WhatsApp quits Android 2.3.7 and lower after February 2020

WhatsApp will stop working on Android 2.3.7 and lower after February 1, 2020.

The company announced in an updated blogpost. WhatsApp will drop support of Windows Phone 8.0 and lower after December 31, 2017.

Co-founder of WhatsApp Brian Acton told Whatsappen.nl earlier that they company was reviewing the end of life dates for BlackBerry and Nokia S40. BlackBerry can be used until December 31, 2017 and Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018.

Although you’re able to use WhatsApp until the mentioned dates, some features may stop working. WhatsApp is no longer actively developing these platforms.

We have listed all end dates below.

June 30, 2017:

  • Nokia Symbian S60

December 31, 2017:

  • Windows Phone 8.0 and older
  • BlackBerry OS
  • BlackBerry 10

Note: The BlackBerry Priv and DTEK50 are supported Android devices.

December 31, 2018:

  • Nokia S40

February 1, 2020:

  • Android 2.3.7 and older
